Fall Guys has been around for the best part of five years, and has gone through many changes in that time, but now, developer Mediatonic is finally implementing a much-requested feature: Ranked Knockout.

Available in the game now as part of the latest update, Ranked Knockout does what it says on the tin — the clumsy elimination game as you know it, only with a tiered ranking system, as seen in basically every other modern competitive title.

The way it works is that competitors will earn Points based on how far they make it through a match, getting more for progressing further. Your accumulated Points total will dictate your rank, of which there are eight, each with three sub-ranks.

Those in Rookie, Contender, Bronze, and Silver ranks — the lower half — will be able to make progress without fear of demotion, while those in the upper tiers — Gold, Ace, Star, and Superstar — can be demoted, but only to the next sub-rank down.

Matchmaking in Ranked Knockout will of course try to match players of similar rank.

Ranked Knockout will be divided into Competitive Cycles, each lasting eight weeks. At the end of each of these periods, you'll receive rewards based on the highest rank you achieved during that cycle.

Rewards will include Kudos and Crowns based on your rank, and if you're in Gold or above, you'll earn a Ranked Emoticon representative of your rank.

For those who manage to get into Star or Superstar, you'll also receive the special Supreme Idol costume. The top prize will change each Competitive Cycle.
